Christmas & Birthday

For my birthday Jason and I went to see the movie Yes Man and then we went to Color Me Mine. I painted the plate below I want to make it a tradition that at a birthday party at my house the birthay boy or girl get to eat off the special plate.

Jason painted this car. He put the design on it. He said he wants to paint his car like this.

They will look better once they have been fired in the oven. I can't wait to pick them up Friday.

The day before Christmas Eve I went to my brothers and my mom made a gingerbread house with Tiff and Grace.

This is another new nephew of mine he was born on December 1st.

My nephew loves shoes and always has to have shoes on. Here is a picture of him wearing my pink boots.

Christmas was great we went to my parents on Christmas Eve for dinner. After dinner we acted out the Christmas story with costumes and all. Christmas day we went to Jason's mom's and Christmas night I went to see Marley & Me with my parents and brothers. It was a really good movie but it isn't all comedy just a warning.

Santa's Running

This is my fun running group. Last Saturday we all dressed up and ran on the Jordan River Parkway. It was fun. Other runners on the trail smiled at us. After we went out for Einstein Bagels people there were giving us funny looks. I love my friends green hair. I want t get a awesome wig to wear for races to stand out from the crowd.

If you ever want to run with us anyone is invited. My little brother came for his first time last week and after just one run he is going to run Salt Lake Half Marathon in April.

Funny

I was reading at runnersworld.com it listed the World's Cheapest Gift for Runners

It is petroleum jelly here is the article if you would like to read it

Here is 22 Wonderful Uses For Petroleum Jelly

Today, Vaseline is found in nearly every medicine chest, glove compartment, purse, desk drawer, garage, emergency kit and winter coat pocket. It is still used for cuts and scrapes, but over the years the list has grown by leaps and bounds.
Petroleum Jelly in it's raw form was a curse to U.S. oil drillers in the late 1800's. It had a paraffin like consistency that stuck to the shaft of their rigs and caused them to seize up. The chemist, Robert Cheseborough created a gel by distilling thin oil rendered from the raw material the drillers liked to call "rod wax." In 1870 Cheseborough opened his first factory in Brooklyn, New York, under the brand name "Vaseline" as an ointment for skin injuries.
Below are but a few of the many uses people have found for the wonder ointment, Vaseline Petroleum Jelly:

1- Water Rings on Wood Furniture:Rub petroleum into damaged area with your fingers and let stand for a few hours or if possible overnight. In the morning remove excess jelly with a paper towel and buff with a soft cloth.

2- Super Glue Cap: Often after it's first use, the super glue cap ends up stuck fast to the tube and can't be used again. Put a thick coating of jelly inside the cap threads to keep it from gluing itself shut. This will work on any cap or lid that may stick.

3- To Shine Shoes:A thin coating of jelly on shoes, boots and purses will keep them looking great and repel water and road salt. Wipe on a thin layer and wipe off excess with a soft cloth.

4- Squeaky Doors:Quiet a squeaky door hinge with a coating of petroleum jelly on the hinge pin. Your door will be quiet and you don't have to worry about messy drips.

5- Keep Your Hands Clean:No matter what the chore, if it is messy rub on Petroleum Jelly before you begin. It will keep paint, stain, car grease, and garden dirt from embedding in your skin. It will soften your hands while protecting your skin. Just wipe off with paper towel or an old rag for clean up.

6- Hair Coloring:To keep hair color from staining your skin, apply Petroleum Jelly along hairline and ears before you begin.

7- Cuts and Sores:When Petroleum Jelly first hit the market, it's purpose was for protecting cuts and scrapes by acting as a barrier to keep out moisture and bacteria.

8- Moisturizer:If you have sensitive skin Petroleum Jelly can be used as an all over body moisturizer. It contains no chemicals or perfumes.

9-Car Battery Posts:Stop battery post corrosion by applying Petroleum Jelly on the terminals.

10-Outdoor Lights:A thin coating of Petroleum Jelly on light bulb threads will prevent them from sticking when they need to be replaced.

11- Nail Polish:Rub Petroleum Jelly on the skin around your nails before polishing. If you make a mistake it can be wiped off when your nails are dry and it softens cuticles at the same time.

12- Paint Cans:Petroleum Jelly forms an air tight seal when applied around the inside edge of the can.

13- Frozen Locks:To keep your locks from freezing, smear Petroleum Jelly on the shaft of the key and insert it into the lock. Work the key and lock 4 or 5 times to lubricate the tumblers. This is also a good remedy for keys and locks that just don't seem to work smoothly together.

14- Sticky Drawers:Apply petroleum Jelly along the runner on a sticky drawer to make it slide more freely.

15- Rough Feet:If you are like so many people, your feet are hard, calloused and dry. Apply petroleum Jelly to your feet after bathing or showering. Apply within the first three minutes of bathing before the moisture on your skin evaporates. It will make your feet softer, and act as a moisture barrier to keep your feet from drying out.

16- Garbage Can Lids: In the winter rubber garbage can lids can freeze to the can. A thin coat of Petroleum Jelly will keep it from sticking.

17-Chapped Lips:Apply as needed.

18- Makeup Remover: Use as you would any makeup remover. It removes makeup safely while softening your skin.

19 -Diaper Rash: Use in place of expensive ointments and creams to prevent rash.

20- Tight Finger Rings: Apply to your finger and the ring will slide off.

21- Grandpa's Bald Head: Gives a glistening shine for those special occasions. Just apply and polish.

22- Nuts and Bolts:Keep nuts, bolts and screws from rusting by coating with Petroleum before using.

Do people think before they Boycott?

So this article was posted in LA Times check the link out.

http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/commentary/la-oe-stein14-2008nov14,0,2377851.column

This is what I think of "No Gays for a Day"

So they are wanting to do a boycott and trying to compare it to the immigrants boycott in 2006. But they are going to have to work and shop eventually they aren't going to leave the country like the immigrants reason of the boycott they had.

What they don't buy on December 5th they will just buy the day before or after what they would have the day before and they are the one's loosing out on there vacation day or the pay they would make. Also with the economy the way it is they are risking loosing their job's if they don't go to work and with unemployment rates higher than the past few years there are plenty of people that would take their job.

Trunk - or - Treat's

I just wanted to say I think Trunk or Treat's are stupid.

In the 80's and 90's we had to work for our candy and go door to door. Now the kids and parents are lazy and just go car to car and they have a bag full in 60 minutes or less.

They say it is for safety but as a kid we only went to houses of who we know. If you think your kids aren't safe then go with them or go to a different neighborhood.

We usually aren't home on Halloween night and we will be gone most of the night this year.

So if you want candy from me then you have to work for it and come to my house and come before 7:00.

Also If you have a really good costume I will give you more candy and if it is crappy you are only getting one piece.

Half Marathon

I made it.

I had a fun time in Moab. I got there Saturday afternoon and my friends took there jeep off-road to see Gemini Bridges. Then we went out for pasta.

Sunday I ran the Half Marathon it was a pretty run. The start of the race you go over a bridge and the bridge was bouncing because of all the runners on it. The course had a lot of hills at the end which made it hard.

Here is Stella, Me, and Christi before the race.

Christi and Josh before the race
Stella, Me, Christi after the race.
I stayed an extra day and on Monday I went shopping on Main Street in Moab and then we went to Arches National Park and drove through it. We got lost on the way home my friend said she knew the way so we didn't pull the map out. We went about a hour past where we were suppose to turn. So we went home a different way it took us about 2 hours extra to get home but it was fun chatting and seeing the pretty mountains in Central Utah.

It was a fun getaway. I don't know if I can do a full marathon ever but I am going to try to train and run one in the spring for one.

Tick or Treat

For Halloween I crocheted candy corn Trick or Treating bags for all my nieces and nephews.

Here are 3 of the 10 bags I have finished.

I don't know if i should make them for the 4 nieces or nephews that are coming the next few months.

My mom sewed lining in the bags and stitched all of their names in the bags so they won't get mixed up.

I took 3 of the bags to my sisters and gave them to her kids

I have been informed that they also work as hats.

10 DAY COUNT DOWN

I don't think anyone cares but this is my mind so I decided to blog.

In 10 days I will be running the Moab Other Half Marathon I am getting a little nervous after my friends finished St. George full marathon and were talking about how bad the weather was. I checked the 10 day forecast and it looks like good weather.

This is the sweet jacket I am going to get for running the race. I also get a unique finisher medal, delicious post race refreshments, beer from one of Utah’s outstanding microbreweries (which I will not be drinking), reusable sweat bag, bus ride to the start, and the privilege of running through some of the most beautiful scenery in the country!

I got this sweet running skirt I got it %50 off to wear over my tight compression running shorts that aren't very attractive.

Sleep Over

My niece had a sleepover with us the week before I went to California. My niece is in love with Jason. She wouldn't of cared if I was gone the entire time. We watched Cars because my husband hadn't seen it yet. My niece was just happy to have some alone time with us.

In the morning Jason went to a meeting at work and my niece woke up after he had left. I asked her what she wanted for breakfast and she said "I am going to wait for Jason to get home to eat"

So I emailed my boss that I was coming to work late and we waited for Jason to get home from his meeting. When Jason got home we took her to Village Inn. Here are pictures of her at breakfast. She had to sit by Jason when we ate.

When my brother told her last night that I was going up the canyon with them her first question was "is Jason coming" when my brother said no she was asking why and saying she wanted him to come but he was still at work.

Canyon

Last night I went up the canyon with my brothers and mom and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows.

Here is my niece eating candy.

My favorite is roasted Starbursts. Here is my niece in front of my roasted Starbursts.

My nephew had fun throwing rocks and sticks in the water. 1-2 year old kids are my favorite.

California

I went to Visit my sister 2 weeks ago it was fun to get away and hang out with her and her kids.

One day I went to San Francisco with my brother, his father in law, and my brother in law.

Here is a picture of me under the Golden Gate Bridge.

One of the days my sister and her kids went to San Francisco we went to a bakery and my nephew and nieces got bear rolls.

My sister had a meeting and so one night I took care of the kids while she was gone and after giving the kids a bath one night we decorated cupcakes. The loved the sprinkles there were probably more sprinkles than frosting.

I talked my niece into throwing away her binky so we went to the store and I let her pick out a toy. She got a Furr Real puppy that came in a purse. Here are pictures of her loving her puppy.

Dear Lizzie

My sister is pregnant and has been on bed rest for about a month and has 2 months to go. Katrina is the oldest and is always helping her mom and I never see her complaining about helping out.

My mom wanted to let her have a special day and come to my work for lunch on her early out day. It kept on getting pushed back because other things came up. So yesterday she was going to come up again but her sister and brother were both sick and my mom had to take them to the Doctor. So I went and picked her up and took her out for a fun afternoon. We were going to go to Thanksgiving Point for ice cream but she goes there with her family almost every week (they have a family pass and live a mile away). So at the last minute I changed my mind and took her to Dear Lizzie it is boutique & Bistro in Highland. We had a fun outin.

We got drinks called Dizzy Lizzie they were good. Katrina also got a Chocolate and a sucker. She named there suckers Licky Lizzie and the chocolates Lizzie Lizzie. Here are some pictures of the fun day.

This is Katrina with her drink and chocolate
I wasn't going to get a drink but I tried Katrina's and it was so good I had to get one.

At home eating the sucker
I am exited I am going to California this Saturday to see my sister and help her out while her husband is out of town. She is pregnant and when she told her yongest she had a baby in her tummy she said "mommy you ate a baby?" kids say the funniest things.

SALT LAKE 2008 HALF MARATHON

I ran my first half marathon today. It was great but I thought I was going to die. The first 4 miles of the race were up hill do I need to say more :). I hurt my leg earlier this week pulling a tree out of my rose bush. My friend told me to go get Leg compression socks. They helped me so much this is what they look like.

I wore them all day on Thursday and slept in them that night. I wore them again Friday night and wore them to my race. They help so much where they were on my leg was the only place on my legs that didn't hurt in the race. Here is what Jeff Galloway has to say about them.

“The Zensah® leg sleeve could speed up your performance and reduce recovery time. According to research and runner reports compression sleeves improve performance of the most important muscle for running—the calf muscle. The Zensah® leg sleeve is the only calf sleeve which incorporates pin point compression to the calf area. I recommend it for use when traveling on flights to and from a marathon.” - Jeff Galloway

Whenever I run 9 or more miles in the morning I take an ice bath. I turn the water on with cold water and fill the water till it covers my legs. I have my ice maker out of my freezer and while I am in the tub I put all the ice in the tub. I sit in the tub till all of it is melted. Some people wear a sweatshirt or wrap a towel around them I do that sometimes. While it is melting i sit in the tub and play games on my phone or call and talk to someone usually I call my grandma or my sisters (they usually don't know I am sitting in the tub) It helps my legs recover faster from the long run. Today when I put the ice in the water I screamed it was so cold. Here is a picture of my feet from my phone today showing that I am crazy and do it.

I am a slow runner it was my first race and I finished in about 2 hours and 45 minutes. I want to get down to at least a 2:30 half. I am running Moab Other Half October 19th so I will let everyone know how it goes.

I am off to nap and then a pedicure
